I have been going non stop since returning from Martha's Vineyard! October is turning out to be a jam-packed month for me! I got the opportunity to travel to California with my former boss, Chef Spicer for an event and next week I am catering a "Burgers & Burgundy" themed party for 80 people! I will post separately about that one! Busy Busy Busy. All good things though:)
I HAVE to tell you about California. It was amazing! Chef Spicer and I flew into LAX and drove to Santa Barbara to cook for the Goldman Sach's event, "The 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs." We made a pit-stop on the way and had lunch at Nobu in Malibu. I felt pretty fancy. We saw Pierce Brosnan. I know you were wondering about celebrity sightings. We ordered so many goodies and ate wayyy to much. It was such a treat to be able to relax and have a lovely lunch with amazing food and great company.

Mini Tacos - Uni, Ribeye, & Tuna, These were AMAZING
In addition to this we also ordered a soft-shell crab sushi roll, mini Takumi burgers with sweet potato fries, tempura fried rock shrimp with spicy sauce, eggplant with miso, & beef toban yaki. We were too full for dessert!!
When were arrived in Santa Barbara we went to the Four Seasons where the event was being held. The staff there was so friendly and helpful and were nice enough to give us a tour of the grounds and it was unlike anything I've ever seen. Amazing views, beautiful plants everywhere, cottages, private clubs, pools, the whole nine yards.

The next day we came back to the Four Seasons to get ready for the event. We were in great company, some other chefs that made an appearance were Tim Hollingsworth (former Chef de Cuisine at The French Laundry), Justin Cogley (Chef at Aubergine), Brian Busker from Matsuhisa in Vail, just to name a few.
Here's a shot of Chef Spicer at work at our table. The event was outside and it was such a beautiful night. We served sweetbreads and lentil salad. The pictures are not great, it was very dark, but just to give you an idea of what we were doing. We were the only chefs cooking our dish to order out on the patio.
After the event was over, the guest chefs were invited back to the hotel for a late night dinner. We were all grateful to sit down and have some wine and delicious food after a long day. I would have been happy with just the truffle fries and Nutella Smore's. They outdid themselves!
This was such a memorable trip for me and I was so appreciative that Chef asked me to accompany her! Cheers to traveling and food, aaannd cheers to 1 year of blogging on Consumed by Carrie!! It's been so much fun.
