Martha’s Vineyard

June 24, 2014 · 2 Comments

As some of you may know I recently started a new job as a Personal Chef and it has required me to travel to Martha's Vineyard for the summer. Don't you feel sorry for me already? It is beautiful here, I am staying 2.5 miles away from the beach, and not a single stop light to be seen on the entire island. It's true, stop lights aren't allowed, and I kind of love it.

I am getting settled and slowly adjusting to the schedules of my new bosses, and also to their likes and dislikes. This is selection of some of the things I have cooked for them thus far. They range from simple to upscale with everything from filet mignon and crab cakes, to fried rice and chicken soup.

I have had a few free nights here so far, and I am sampling the local fare every chance I get! The restaurant scene here is great. They don't allow any chains, no Subway, no McDonald's or Domino's, NOT EVEN a Starbucks! I am more than okay with this though, it's actually refreshing. It forces locals and tourists alike to eat local and support the small businesses on the Island.

My first ever stuffed lobster from The Square Rigger restaurant, so luscious and amazing.

New England Clam Chowder and fried fish sandwich from Home Port Restaurant in Menemsha.

I am loving it so far, despite the relatively chilly weather, compared to the sweltering New Orleans summer. I am looking forward to sharing more of my food adventures and giving you a taste of Martha's Vineyard.

Wow. I hope they know how lucky they are! That all looks terrific — you even take great pictures of food.
